성광 소식

1일차 소식 – 멕시코 메리다
하나님께 감사드립니다—저희 팀은 아무 지연 없이 무사히 메리다에 도착했고, 세관에서도 큰 문제 없이 준비한 모든 물품을 들여올 수 있었습니다. 공항에서는 선교사 John과 June Yi, 그리고 현지 스태프들이 저희를 따뜻하게 맞이해주셨습니다. 공항에서 바로 메시아 침례교회(Messiah Baptist Church)로 이동하여, 담임목사인 Victor 목사님과 인사를 나누고, 이번 주 동안 통역으로 함께 사역할 현지 청소년 15명과도 처음 만났습니다. 이후, 저희가 함께 섬길 네 개의 교회에서의 사역 일정에 대해 현지 스태프들과 논의하고, 지역 어린이들과 어른들이 그리스도를 만나도록 함께 기도하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 그 후 숙소로 이동하여 존과 준 선교사님이 이끄는 간단한 오리엔테이션을 통해 현지 스태프 및 아이들과의 소통 시 유의할 점과 효과적인 사역 방법에 대해 나누었습니다. 오리엔테이션 이후에는 이번 주 동안 나눠줄 200개 이상의 선물 가방(goody bag)을 함께 포장하였습니다.

[기도 제목] *내일 시작되는 첫 번째 VBS를 위해 기도해주세요. 동네에서 약 60–100명의 아이들이 프로그램에 참여할 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.
*낮 기온이 계속해서 90도(화씨)를 웃도는 가운데, 야외 활동과 건축 사역이 예정되어 있어 팀원들의 건강과 체력 유지를 위해 기도해주세요.
*현지 청소년 통역자들, Victor 목사님, John과 June 선교사님, 그리고 저희 팀 사이에 하나됨과 명확한 소통이 있도록 기도해주세요.

Praise the Lord—our team arrived safely in Mérida with no delays and only minimal issues at customs. We were able to bring all of our materials through without trouble. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Missionaries John and June and the local staff. From the airport, we went directly to Messiah Baptist Church, where we met Pastor Victor, the head pastor, and were introduced to 15 local youth who will be serving as translators throughout the week. Together with the local staff, we discussed the ministry plan for the four churches we'll be serving and prayed that many children and adults would come to encounter Christ. Later, we arrived at our lodging and had a brief orientation led by John and June, where they shared best practices for working with local partners and engaging with students. We then assembled over 200 goody bags to be distributed throughout the week.

*Our first day of VBS tomorrow. We are expecting 60–100 neighborhood children to join us for the “Living Water” program.
*The health and endurance of our team members, especially with temperatures remaining above 90°F and several activities, including construction, taking place outdoors.
*Unity and clear communication among the youth volunteers, Pastor Victor, Missionaries John and June, and our team.
